Ok seriously, can we talk?……….hello……I guess not….she hung up….oh, newsletter, hello.

As I was saying.  Lets talk about a few things for this race starts this Friday night at 730pm.

This Friday is a Full Moon, that is no coincidence.  Race #2 is a full moon also.

Parking..if you get there early you can park in the Drury Parking lot.  Do not park in the Valero Park Parking lot.  It has about 20 spaces and they need to be reserved for people that want to use the park but are not in our race.

We have permission to park at the Drury Hotel and next door to the Drury Hotel at Kercheville and Associates.  We also have permission to park on the street behind Drury Hotel, but I’m requesting that if you do park there that you park with the nose of your car pointing in so that we can park more people if needed.

Also under 1604 and IH10 is a Via Park and Ride, please use that.  If all parking is full you will have to park at La Cantera and jog down to the start of the race.  It is about 3/4 of a mile from the start.   You can also park at the RIM Shopping center and it is also about 3/4 of a mile from the start.  Just remember that if you are going to walk back to those area’s in the dark, it is a good idea to have reflective material or lights so that you can be seen.

We have alot of new runners in our race so, let me give you some good advice for any race that you enter.  Dont do anything new on race day.  Also bring your own supplies, the things that you need personally to perform.  Bring your own water bottle, if you dont have one, purchase one at Soler Sports when you get your packet.  On a hot day carry your  own water bottle in the race and have it refilled this will eliminate any surprizes.

Aid Stations.

There will be an Aid Station at mile 1.4, 1.8, 3.1, and 4.5 and the finish

Plenty of opportunities to get water, but, still carry your own water bottle….bring your own water bottle to the race.

Other issues.

  1. Do not leave any trash on the race course.
  2. If you drop out of the race let the timers know
  3. If you change from 5k to 10k or vice versus during the race at the finish let the timers know.  If you do not complete the entire race, let the timers know.
  4. Do not leave the race with your chip, you will be charged.
  5. Be respectful to everyone on the race course and kiss the volunteers.
  6. If you feel hot, slow down, walk, or sit down and rest.
  7. Bring ID and cash with you to the race.  There will be some purchase opportunities that you may not want to miss.
  8. Recruit a friend to run/walk or volunteer.
  9. Friend all of the sponsors on Facebook so that they can see that you, as runners really appreciate that they made the effort to support you
  10. Remember the Alamo……Beer.  And read this entire email blast because you will be quizzed.  We have two new sponsors that will provide the women with something that near to their hearts, like beer is to the men.

Read these notes carefully, we have two new sponsors.

Wells Fargo Advisors, a Financial Services Firm You Can Count On, www.wellsfargoadvisors.com  The provide top-notch service and attention.

Enchanted Rock Vodka, www.enchantedrockvodka.com a smooth grain vodka made in the heart of Texas. Every bottle is handcrafted to capture the essense of this unique landmark’s spirit.

Special note…..ladies…..Enchanted Rock will be there to provide you with one Martini after your race.  So if you are not a beer drinker, now you get one martini. This is a late entry….so we are working out the details….but yes one martini per woman runner.  We may let the guys have one, but that is to be seen.  So girls pass the word.  So for this reason alone, you need to really hydrate before the martini.

When you sign up, give a little to The Marrow Match.

It’s a great cause and you may save a life.

It’s important that you think of your safety at this event.  If you are not having a great day, then slow down and walk to the finish.  It’s early in the season so do not do anything to jeopardize your health.
