This past weekend Emily Dunn, a senior from FEAST home school, signed her letter of intent to attend The University of Tulsa. Emily, a Soler’s employee out of the Stone Oak location, has had one of the most successful high school careers of this past decade. Boasting a PR of 11:14 in the 3200 and a PR of 4:58 in the 1600, Emily was named the 2009 cross country Runner of the Year by the San Antonio Express News and is a four-time member of their cross country Super Team. Emily has been successful off the track and cross country courses in fact ten days ago, at the Houston Half Marathon, she demonstrated her tremendous endurance once again running the 13.1 miles in 1:24:45, the 6th woman finisher overall! Emily gives God all the credit for her success.
Emily is extremely determined and hard working, desiring to be the best she can be with the gifts the Lord has given her. She trains sixty miles per week and most Sunday mornings you will find Emily at McAllister Park with her father, David, and twin sister, Janessa (also committed to The University of Tulsa), logging mile after mile of her long runs. Emily’s goal is to take down the city record in the 1600 of 4:52. Truly Emily’s commitment to the sport is inspiring.
We, at Soler’s Sports, have been so proud of Emily’s running accomplishments and see her work-ethic in running parallel her work-ethic as a Soler’s employee.
Not only is she knowledgeable about running shoes, apparel, and equipment but she is also happy to talk with customers about how to improve their times, avoid injury, and train smarter. It would be hard for our customers to find a sweeter and more dedicated expert, especially in one so young, to advise them on accomplishing their running goals!
If you do not think you can keep up with Emily on her weekly Sunday morning long runs, come in to see her at Soler’s Sports in Stone Oak during weekdays. She’d love to talk “running” with you!
Congratulations, Emily, from Soler’s Sports! We’re so proud of you!
